4th of July Events Near Grand Junction

Due to the fire ban and the dry conditions in the Grand Valley, there aren't many options for firework displays this year. There are several options for alternate events around and near Grand Junction. Here is a list of happenings that are great substitutes for fireworks.

Glenwood Springs laser show is their way of celebrating Independence Day this year, not only on a budget, but a safer way as well. The lasers will light up Red Mountain to a myriad of music for approximately 15 minutes this week. You will enjoy the time and effort they have put into this display and it is enjoyable for the whole family.

As always, there will be the annual 4th of July parade on Main Street in Grand Junction. Starting at 10am on Wednesday, this event is not fireworks, but it is still a red, white, and blue celebration. You will enjoy floats, fancy cars, marching bands, and more. Get there early for a nice parking spot and find an ideal location along Main Street to celebrate Independence Day with this fun alternative.

Our newest event location, Las Colonias Amphitheater is having a an Independence Day Celebration Concert. The United States Air Force Academy Band will be there to supply both beautiful and uplifting music for this holiday. This is a great way to support our Armed Forces and get outside the evening before July 4th. Patriotic music will be accompanied by a delightful venue and fair temperatures. Head up-valley for a great time in Aspen/Snowmass. They have gondola rides, bike parks, and a ton of on-mountain activities in the area. Their annual parade is kicking off with a 5-mile run and a 1-mile family walk and then the parade will begin! Enjoy local eats, pastimes, and just get out of town for this patriotic holiday.

So although there aren't many alternatives to fireworks, there are still options to make it a fun holiday. Throw a barbecue, head to a parade, or just get outside and enjoy our beautiful state to celebrate Independence Day this year.
