3 Household Issues to Fix Before They Get Worse
If you don't take control of these seemingly small issues around your home, you could end up with a bigger headache in the end. Here are some warning signs that indicate larger issues going on in your home.
1. The Unpleasant Sound from your Furnace
This could be a sign of a malfunctioning furnace. Another sign is if your energy bill has gone up. The first thing to check is the furnace filter and if that looks unclogged then it may be a mechanical failure or gas and carbon monoxide leaks. As a side note, a new filter is about $30 and you should change it about once a month, so since we are at the start of August, now is a great time to change it!
2. Worn-out Roofing
If you see loose or broken roofing materials, a sagging roof, curled shingles or depression near pipes, this can be a sign of a roof issue. Water spots on the ceiling could also show an attic leak that needs to be fixed. An annual roofing inspection is a great idea and typically is about $120 to $300.
3. Water damage
Loose tiles, damp carpeting, peeling linoleum and cupping wood flooring is a sign you may have water damage. Stains and mold growth are more signs you should look for especially where there is regular mositure. A plumber ranges from $175 to $450 for most jobs which is much better than paying $3,350 to $4,410 to fix the mold and water damage issues in your home.
